THE hospitality sector in Magaluf is ‘dismayed’ over the ‘bad press’ from recent programs on national television of the cocktails of drunkenness, fighting, alcohol intoxication and theft in the tourist resort.
“We are outraged,” said the owner of a bar in Punta Ballena, summing up the feelings of the tourism sector.
The scenes were shown on channels Antenna 3 in their program ‘Comer, beber, amar’ – ‘Eat, drink, love’ – in Cuatro’s program ‘Que quieres que te diga’ – What do you want me to tell you’ – and in la Sexta’s program ‘Verano Directo’ (Summer direct).
The called Magaluf a ‘City within law’ and claimed it was the place where the ‘most balconing was practiced’ matched with images of nocturnal hedonism.
The Palmanova-Magaluf hotel association has sent a letter to Cuatro expressing their ‘dissatisfaction’ with the tone of the video broadcast which could negatively affect tourism.
