People are heartily sick of the whole fiasco

AINT it grand to feel warm again? Bienvenido primavera.

Thanks for all your mail.

Quite a number of you were asking exactly where my wonderful ‘alternative’ week was actually spent.

Well it was at the very tip of the Algarve, just before you fall into the Atlantic.

Cliffs wine grove and villa are is also in the area, but I’m afraid that’s where any dwelling resemblance ends! Good hunting.

If you are sincere in your endeavors you will find nothing but true sincerity, a warm welcome and a wealth of peace and love.

Before you think I’ve truly snapped I am now thrust screaming and kicking back into the reality of my own existence.

One of my emails came from a David Jones, the creator of Fireman Sam, who related a horrendous experience at Gatwick airport when a chance, extremely innocuous remark, resulted in him almost being arrested for racism.

As his story was subsequently re produced in a number of national publications, I’m sure many of you are familiar with it.

Apparently he was preceded through the X-ray scanner by a woman (presumably) in a full face covering burkah.

As he placed his scarf on the tray, he lightly mentioned to an official that he wondered what would happen if he tried to pass through with his face covered by his scarf?

Apparently this remark was overheard by a Muslim security guard who was ‘deeply offended’ by it. Despite the fact that he insisted it was in no way a religious statement, but merely (and to my mind) a perfectly intelligent observation, he was hauled aside and delayed for over an hour as officials attempted to get him too apologies to the poor offended individual he had’ soo upset’.

It was only when he finally agreed that it ‘could have caused offence’ he was allowed to rejoin his distraught young daughters and continue his journey.

To my mind there was more a case for the mental abuse and child neglect inflicted on these two young girls than appeasing this juvenile official who was oh so ‘hurt’.

When are we going to get our priorities and perspectives right in these ludicrous, one sided situations? The truth of the matter is that they’re all running scared.

Politicians are petrified that to stir any pot that could possibly result in demonstrations, rioting or worse, could see them losing the votes that keep them in power.

Well I’ve got news for them. In my opinion the politician that stands tall and strong against these misguided liberty takers will sweep the board with a positive deluge of votes, from people who are heartily sick of the whole darned fiasco.

Despite all his promises, unfortunately I somehow feel it won’t be Mr. Dave!
