THOUSANDS of people attended the 4-day seafood fair in Benalmadena’s Puerto Marina.
This fourth annual event say 11 restaurants set up stands inside a giant marquee where seafood dishes were sold at much lower prices than usual over from Friday until Monday.
Among them was the normally pricy and highly acclaimed local seafood restaurant Los Mellizos.
Thomas Greggs, 55, a former builder from Bolton and resident of the Costa del Sol for the past three years, went along with his wife Kathy for Sunday lunch.
He said: “It was packed with people waving their euro notes at the waiters who seemed to struggle with the demand.
Not a very relaxing atmosphere for a quiet meal, and certainly not the type of Sunday lunch us British are accustomed to, but people of all ages seemed to enjoy it immensely.
Judging by the amount of cash being spent, Benalmadena said adios to the recession, if only for a few days!”
