Old fashioned Tea Dance to take place in Coín

La Trocha Shopping Centre in Coín is hosting a mid-week, afternoon Tea Dance on Wednesday 11th April.

The event has been arranged by the management team at La Trocha and local British volunteers as a prelude to a bigger British Festival being arranged for later in the year.

Entrance to the La Trocha Tea Dance is free and everyone is invited to take part with popular waltzes, fox trots and quick steps on offer to get the crowd dancing.

Music will be provided by Sue Brown from Monda, who is giving her time for free at the event.

Sue will be playing well known tunes on her electronic keyboard and there will be a chance for the audience to join in with singing some popular British songs.

The tradition of afternoon dances begain in Victorian times and was a popular form of entertainment throughout the early and mid twentieth century.

As part of the event there will be a raffle with prizes donated by shops based at La Trocha and local supporters to raise funds that will be shared between two charities based in Coín: Nexo Animal is a charity based in Villafranco del Guadalhorce that uses ‘animal therapy’ to work with disabled children, children with learning difficulties and the elderly, encouraging them to develop confidence and mobility through close contact with horses, donkeys and dogs.

The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal is raising funds to provide financial, social and emotional support to those who have served or who are currently serving in the British amed forces and their dependants.

As well as raising funds for the annual Poppy Appeal through events and activities, The Royal British Legion in Spain has trained caseworkers who can provide assistance to ex-service people in the local area.

The Tea Dance will take place between 3 pm and 5pm in the restaurant and cafe zone at La Trocha. Raffle tickets will be available on the day.
