POLICE are investigating the death of a Chinese woman.
Leaving her three-month old baby alone, it appears the 25-year-old woman climbed from her apartment on the seventh floor to a terrace on the ninth-floor.
She then fell from the ninth-story of the apartment block on Avenida de Novelda in Elche smashing into the false ceiling of a cafeteria at around 2.30pm on Monday.
Customers and owners discovered the body after being surprised by the loud noise caused by the impact.
“It was like an explosion,” a woman who lives in the apartment block told Diario Informacion.
After her body was identified, neighbours heard her baby crying inside the apartment.
Fire-fighters and officers broke-down the door to the apartment and found the boy in his cradle.
Until the father came home, the boy was put in the care of a Senegalese woman who lives on the same floor. An autopsy is being carried out on the body.
Neighbours said that the Chinese couple, who had lived in the apartment for about four months, did “not go out much” and that the woman was “very friendly and always said hello.”
