POLICE closed down two unauthorised bingo halls in Malaga city and another in Velez Malaga.
One of the halls was located at a sports club, another in a social club and a third in a cafeteria.
A police search of the three establishments revealed €2,000 in cash as well as 5,751 new bingo cards and 1,642 which had been used.
Two laptop computers used for running the games were also impounded. T
he regional government is now drawing up official guidelines for sanctions to be applied to this type of offence.
Unauthorised bingo games breach gaming laws, explained the Junta delegate to Malaga province, Susana Radio, and compete unfairly with establishments that comply with the law.
Police have shut down seven illegal bingo halls since the beginning of the year.
All now face fines of up to €30,000.
