SIXTY members of U3A Vall del Pop celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a fantastic luncheon at the Salamanca Restaurant in Jalon.
The event started with a refreshing Pimms cocktail served out in the courtyard.
There was a Diamond Jubilee Quiz and many nostalgic tunes when everyone tried to ‘raise the roof’ with their singing. Vera Lynn’s version of ‘We’ll Meet Again’ and ‘White Cliffs of Dover’ appeared to be very popular, and the rendition of ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ was word perfect.
There was a toast to the Queen and ‘God Save the Queen’ was sung emphasising the strong links with Britain shared by so many.
All at the event shared their recognition of what a fantastic job Her Majesty has done for 60 years.
