THE family of a cyclist killed by a hit-and-run lorry in San Pedro Alcantara are trying to locate the driver themselves.
As well distributing posters with a description of the incident throughout the area, the victim’s family are also using the Twitter networking site.
Anyone who can shed light on the accident is asked to contact the police.
The accident occurred on May 26 when onlookers saw a heavy lorry allegedly hit the 51-year-old Belgian man sideways on.
The victim was crushed against the central reservation, but the driver failed to stop and the lorry reportedly disappeared without trace.
Police initially assumed that the driver fled the scene when he realised the enormity of the accident.
Further investigations and witness statements now lead them to believe that, given the size of the lorry, the driver failed to see the cyclist.
It is possible that he is unaware of what happened, sources revealed.
