PIZZA-MAKERS, pizza-jugglers and pizza-eaters compete next week to decide the best in each category.
The Campeonato Andaluz de Pizza, held in Malaga City at L’Albero pizzeria in Avenida de los Guindos, on June 18, is organised by Malaga’s Asociacion de Pizzeros Artesanos.
This will be the fourth consecutive year that the competition is held and features everything from recipes and sculptures made from pizza dough to acrobatic and juggling routines.
Using an uncooked pizza base, these are carefully-choreographed and performed to music, explained association president Antonio Martos. Together with his brother Emilio, he is a world champion in this category.
The same day, June 18, sees the second Malaga Pizza-eating contest, with a €100-euro prize for the contestant who manages to eat a medium-sized pizza in the shortest length of time.
Last year the event attracted 15 contestants, and the organisers hope for an even greater response this year.
