ORIHUELA has asked the Alicante Provincial Government to divert 60,000 tonnes of rubbish to the Fontcalent waste plant in Alicante.
The town hall has offered to pay €37 per tonne, which is a saving of €4 per tonne compared to the cost of taking the rubbish to Crevillent’s Arbonasa plant.
This petition comes after the May 31 reversal of a ruling that stopped Alicante Town Hall from receiving rubbish from other municipalities in order to increase their income.
The Alicante Provincial Government arranged to meet to debate the Orihuela Town Hall’s proposal.
