ONLY 26 per cent of Spanish employees work from home, compared with 35 per cent in Europe.
This falls to 8 per cent for employees who work at home during more than a quarter of the week, found a survey for the Masfamilia foundation.
At present 16.2 per cent of companies have employees who work from home at least one day a week – 10.7 per cent more than a year ago.
In theory, 40 per cent of Spain’s 10 million employees could work from home, an alternative known to boost motivation and productivity, experts claim.
Widespread working from home would bring a 5.4 million reduction in work-related journeys each year, saving 583.2 million litres of fuel and 2 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
