PALMA AIRPORT employees held a protest against a rise in car park fees.
They gathered on the check-in floor of Son Sant Joan Airport to demonstrate against the €3 monthly increase introduced on January 1.
Trade unions UGT and CCOO said the rise – from €20 to €23 a month – imposed by Spain’s Airport Authority (AENA) is excessive. The move could affect more than 10,000 airport workers but it does not apply to AENA employees.
The main complaint is that affected staff will have to pay the full monthly €23 despite not going to work every day. Workers also complain that mediocre security measures and quality of service cannot justify such an increase.
