FUENGIROLA: Digger broke gas pipe
Traffic in Fuengirola was brought to a standstill at lunchtime today (Wednesday) when a digger accidently broke a gas pipe.
Police would not allow drivers on the old Mijas to Coin road to pass when steam started rising from the ground on a roundabout; one witness said there was also a loud noise, sounding like a jet engine underground.
A policeman at the scene told the Euro Weekly News that a machinist had accidently cut through a pipe and that traffic had been stopped as a matter of course; he stated that the problem was resolved within 10 minutes, and that the public had been kept away for safety reasons.
