Almuñecar tourism is looking healthy.
More than 3,500 tourists made inquiries at the Almuñecar tourist office during Easter week; the majority were Spanish, 68%, followed by foreigners, 32%.
According to Rafael Caballero, councillor for tourism, the majority of the Spanish tourists were from Andalucia and Madrid and the majority of the foreigners were French, 30%, and, of course, 18% British.
Caballero also said that this data was especially satisfying as the council has been spending quite a bit on promoting the area, in tourism fairs and through advertising, and they are pleased that it has had such a positive effect.
The most sought after item from the tourist office was a plan of the area as well as timetables of the monument’s opening hours.
