NATIONAL POLICE in Huelva are looking into what appears to be the attempted kidnapping of a six-year-old girl.
The incident took place in the Isla Chica neighbourhood of the city in a children’s play park at around eight in the evening.
A man of around 30, described by eye witnesses as fat and greying, approached a group of children who were trying to get their ball back from a garage. He assured them that he had the keys to the garage and they should come to his house to get them – the other children didn’t want to go with him but the man took hold of the girl’s hand and led her away a few metres.
A friend of the minor immediately went and told a group of mothers, who were standing nearby, that the child had gone off with an unknown man. On seeing one of the mothers approaching him the man then let go of the girl’s hand and ran away.
Police have taken statements from eye witnesses at the scene and searched the area for any clues.
Initially they located a suspect but when the minor saw him she said he was not the man in question.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
