FORMER N-Dubz singer Dappy is facing the possibility of jail after being found guilty of punching a man in a Reading nightclub.

Dappy, who was tried under his real name, Costadinos Contostavlos, denied the charges when tried at Reading Magistrates’ Court.

The 27-year-old singer lashed out at Devonn Reid at the Reading nightclub Evissa in October of last year, the court heard.

Contostavlos was serving a six-month suspended sentence when he committed the crime, making prison time a distinct possibility.

Judge Davinder Lachhar said: “Custody is a realistic prospect as far as this case is concerned in light of his record.”

It is reported that Mr. Reid was in the club with his girlfriend and another female friend when the singer approached the group. He put his arm around the friend, which Reid did not like.

Speaking to Sky News, Reid said: “I thought it was in a flirtatious way and I said to Marie ‘Why are you talking with him?’

“Dappy said to me ‘What, don’t you want me talking to them?’

“He said ‘Why don’t you want me talking to them?’, and I pointed to Marie and said ‘Don’t talk to none of them.’

“He said something and I said ‘What?’ and I turned to look at him and that is when he hit me straight on the nose.”

This is not the star’s first brush with the law, he was handed a suspended sentence back in February 2012 for spitting at two 19-year-old women at a petrol station in Guildford, an act which subsequently led to a mass brawl.

In June of this year, he was fined £800 (€1,000) for slapping a man in a club in Chelmsford earlier in the year.
