Golden chance for Costa del Sol businesses

THE TV camera was on local businesspeople as the second of Mijas Council’s Golden Minute events was held.

The initiative gives people in the Costa del Sol town a chance to put their businesses on local TV and radio, free of charge.

The event saw representatives from a variety of companies based in Mijas take the opportunity to speak to camera for one minute about their businesses. The clips will now be broadcast on local station 340 TV and radio, as well as being printed in the council’s Mijas Semanal newspaper. It is part of the Hecho in Mijas (Made in Mijas) campaign that the town hall has been running to help businesses in the municipality.

The Golden Minute is aimed specifically at English-speaking businesses, though they don’t have to be English-run. The event, which will be held every month, is more than just for promoting the companies – it is also a way for business people to get to know each other.

Jason Godwin, of the Mayan Monkey chocolate factory, said: “It is a great way of getting to meet people and to network. Yes, it is a way to promote your business, but it is a great way to encourage people to come out of their shell.

“What I saw was the passion that people have about their businesses and about what they do. When you hear that it makes you want to do business with them – you feel they are people you can trust.”
