THE company behind the work on the new Central Market in Elche estimates that the new complex is expected to generate an economic impact in the city of over €20 million.
A study predicts the future infrastructure, including the supermarket and the underground parking in the down town area, will become a magnet for walking, leisure, catering and shopping and nearby businesses will also benefit.
It is also thought that the new market and complex will generate more than 200 direct jobs.
There will also be the added attraction that the archaeological remains found on site will be displayed for visitors to view, as well as the possibility of entering the old shelter from the Civil War, also included in the project related to the Central Market.
