Motril Civil Protection HQ to undergo renovations

THE Motril Civil Protection force will see their facilities renovated for a cost of €100,000.
Mayor of Motril, Luisa Garcia Chamorro, together with the Security and Mobility councillor, Manuel Ballesteros and head of the Motril Fire Brigade, Floro Castro, announced the news during a visit to the facilities.
“After several years taking up different municipal facilities, we deemed fit to transfer the use of a unit at the industrial plot of Las Algaidas, where they have enough spaces to keep their vehicles and equipment,” said the mayor. “Now we would like to take it one step further and improve their headquarters.”
Plans are to level the external area and fit it with gutters to solve flooding problems, as well as the improvement of the perimeter wall and the implementation of a fence. In addition, the car park area will be paved.
Inside the facilities, the electric and lighting system will be replaced, the toilets completely renovated and the interior repainted, amongst other works.
Ms Chamorro stressed the excellent work carried out selflessly by the 54 volunteers of Civil Protection.
