HIGH-FLIER: Osaia completes a tricky manoeuvre.
OSAIA REDING, the 11-year-old champion kite-surfer from Mojacar, has competed in La Manga (Murcia). She took third place in the 2015 Kite-surf Cup during the second edition of the La Manga Xperience, an event that attracted more than 150 amateur and professional competitors from all over Spain. Osaia was not the only member of her family participating in the tournament, as her father and trainer, Sebastien Reding, finished fifth, a more than respectable result for the oldest competitor.Kite-surfing is an increasingly popular sport due to its speed, jumps and aerial manoeuvres that have to be seen to be believed. Osaia’s enthusiasm is immense and she almost always wins a place on the podium for the championships she enters. She practises, accompanied by Sebastien, on the Mojacar beaches whenever the weather permits. Mojacar Town Hall is one of her main sponsors and her kite-surf board bears the indalo emblem, which represents the town that is so close to Osaia’s heart.
