New musical director for JB Brass Band

JB BRASS BAND, Costa Blanca’s leading brass band, has announced the appointment of new musical director Brian Webber FLCM, LRAM; an accomplished conductor and professional violinist.
Brian studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Sir Yehudi Menuhin and worked as a violin teacher in the UK for 20 years before moving to Spain in 1994, where he has continued to play and teach both at the Conservatory in Murcia and as Principal Conductor with the Cartagena Chamber Orchestra, a post he retained until his recent retirement.
The JB Brass Band and Brian have been working together for the past month. “This has been a new partnership for both JB and Brian and the musical diversity is proving to be a perfect combination,” said Chairman Ian Gibson. “Rehearsals have been both enjoyable and challenging for everyone and I hope that our audiences will notice a new confidence within our players.”
With a regular 20 members at rehearsal the band always welcomes new or visiting players at rehearsals in San Miguel every Wednesday at 4.30pm.
Further details of rehearsals and concerts can be found on the band’s web page or search JB Brass Band Supporters on Facebook.
