THE first phase of Gibraltar’s new Electronic Patient Record system (EPR) will be launched this week. The system that has been developed by EMIS/Ascribe and the Gibraltar Health Authority is due to go live today (Wednesday June 24).On June 10, the new GHA registration system for patients was successfully implemented with the successful transfer of 65,000 patient records into the new system.There has been extensive integration and user acceptance testing before the launch of this system, which has involved the supplier, EMIS health, and a signification number of GHA key teams as well as the registration department.This collaborative partnership has been overseen by the EPR Board, chaired by the Minister for Health. This very important first stage has laid the foundation for implementation of the first phase of fully integrated, electronic patient records.The first phase will be the introduction of an electronic clinical record in Primary Care and the Accident and Emergency Department.
