ANYONE ignoring red flags on Elche beaches and getting in the sea this summer could, apart from putting their life at risk, find themselves fined by the police.Security councillor, Cristina Marquez, has given the order to the Local Police force to issue fines to anyone caught in the water when red flags are in place.Last week two people had to be rescued from the sea off Arenales beach after ignoring lifeguards’ advice not to swim as red flags were in place due to storms, and officers were needed to persuade others to get out of the sea.
