COSTA BLANCA environmentalists are asking residents to avoid watering their gardens in the heat of the day, a practice that is detrimental to the gardens and a waste of water as in temperatures of 35 degrees and above the water is simply too hot to be of benefit to plants and shrubs. In the city of Elche municipal gardeners are finding it difficult to get through the amount of watering required to keep the city’s green areas in good condition.Recommendations are that watering is carried out well after sunset or very early in the morning with irrigation system timers set accordingly.
