ELCHE’S new ruling government team has decided not to raise the IBI property tax next year for residents.Councillor Patricia Macia said the municipality had received a communication from the Ministry of Finance stating that under the General Budget Act, local authorities had the possibility of increasing the IBI for the next year by 1.10 per cent, but the city had rejected this way of increasing revenues and would keep residents’ rates the same as that of 2015.Mayor Carlos Gonzalez said months ago on several occasions that he was not in favour of touching the tax hike and now the tripartite (PSOE, Compromís and Ilicitanos by Elche) government have all agreed.
