THE departments of Social Welfare and the Sports Department of La Nucia have signed an agreement with the EMAUS Association making the outdoor swimming pool at the Ciutat Esportiva Camilo Cano Centre freely available to the children throughout the summer, part of La Nucia’s policy of seeking to integrate the most disadvantaged in local society through sport. The Altea and Polop EMAUS reception centre minors began using the free facilities at the outdoor swimming pool from July 8, with groups of 15 minors visiting two days a week to enjoy a fun and recreational swim during the hot summer months and take the opportunity to socialise with children of their own age in a sporty and healthy environment.La Nucia has been awarded ‘European Villa of Sport’ and the ‘Sport National Award’ for its sporting model that encourages the social integration of the disabled, seniors, adolescents at risk and also immigrants.
