TEULADA Town Council organised the open swim across the port of Moraira on Sunday, August 2 for the 20th year, attracting 80 swimmers this year in all age categories, ranging from babies right up to grannies – full of enthusiasm and eager to show everyone they can still tackle the 1,800-metre swim from Portet to l’Ampolla.
To qualify to swim the full 1800-metre distance, the swimmers had to be over 16 and others swam a limited stretch. Younger competitors completed 300 metres starting from the mouth of the harbour and at 12.15pm, smaller participants tackled 45 metres. Finally tiny tots bravely completed 15 meters accompanied by a family member.
Medals were presented for the first three in each category and great fun was had by all.
