Man accused of killing ex in Castelldefels a week after triple murder

A MAN was arrested by Local Police in Castelldefels (Barcelona) on Wednesday morning (August 12) after allegedly stabbing his ex-partner to death in the street.

This murder comes only a week after a woman and her two children were killed by a man who later committed suicide in the same Barcelona town.

According to police, the man arrested on Wednesday waited for his victim to leave her property where she lived with her current partner, and then attacked her with a machete in Calle Pietat.

Both the suspect and victim were Spanish and aged 50 and 44 years old respectively. The man is reported to have also tried to terrorise the woman by burning her car around a year ago. He is also reported to have attempted to set fire to the woman’s home. However, there are no records of previous official reports issued against him.

The Castelldefels Council has held a moment of silence in the shellshocked town on Wednesday at 12 noon in commemoration of the victim and to condemn the murder, as well as declaring two days of official grieving.
