Waves wipe out swimming challenge in Rincon de la Victoria

A ONE of the most important sports events in the Axarquia region had to be cancelled do to bad weather conditions.

The swimming challenge ‘Brazadas Solidarias’ (Charitable Strokes), scheduled to take place on Sunday (August 23) in Rincon de la Victoria, was sadly called off due to strong waves.

More than 250 swimmers were signed up to participate in this challenge. The town council is currently in discussions to decide whether it is viable to call swimmers and audience for a new date.

All proceeds of the event were to be donated to the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, to fund the integration of people with disabilities in India.
