POLICE in Motril are carrying out an intensive campaign of surveillance in the countryside to reduce and prevent thefts in fields.
“We know that, frequently, our field workers suffer the theft of their fruits,” said Citizens’ Safety Councillor Maria Angeles Escamez, who continued: “This is why the National and Local Police are performing a special surveillance campaign with the goal of preventing thefts.”
Only last week, according to the councillor, three different operations were launched which are said to have prevented the theft of sub-tropical fruits in several fields.
On Friday (September 25), police seized products which were being carried by a man inside a vehicle, after he was unable to prove the origin of said items. The next day, on a rural path, a similar situation took place and then on Sunday four people were found carrying tools which are suspected to have been used to commit crimes.
