A MAN armed with a shotgun attempted to steal a lorry in Motril, according to a statement released by National Police.
The events took place on Friday (October 2) at around 9.30pm when a luxury vehicle forced a lorry coming from the Motril Port and heading to Almeria to stop at a roundabout.
A man armed with a shotgun stepped out of the vehicle and threatened the lorry driver, who was able to alert National Police before the alleged robber could reach him, according to his version.
National Police attended the area immediately and the robber fired his gun several times before fleeing the scene in the car. Authorities gave chase but were unable to catch the suspect.
Officers are currently investigating the events as the lorry was coming from Melilla without any goods inside, so the reasons behind this attempted robbery are still unknown.
