GRANADA Provincial Council has been carrying out tests in Salobreña, Huetor-Vega and Santa Fe since 2010 to encourage Safe School Walks, which have had great results.
So far, 7,169 schoolchildren from 12 schools included in the tests have joined the programme, which aims to create safe routes for children to walk or cycle to school and achieve traffic-free school surroundings.
Other towns on the Costa Tropical and across Granada Province are being encouraged to join the scheme, which would include campaigns to help change families’ school-run habits and improve streets to ensure safety.
