Women and sport exhibition at La Herradura's Centro Civico

TWO exhibitions currently running at La Herradura’s Centro Civico are aiming to honour sportswomen and promote and encourage equality in the sporting world.

The displays, on loan from the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality’s Women and Equal Rights Institute are aimed to prove that the presence of women in the sports world is now an undeniable fact and encourage women and girls to make sports and exercise part of their day-to-day lives.

Although prejudices and stereotypes have until recently tried to keep women out of the world of professional sports in Spain, they are now breaking their way in and notching up achievements many men would be proud of.

The displays in La Herradura tell stories of women and sport, from the end of the 19th century to modern day figures, and from sportswomen to umpires and federation leaders.
