INTENSE WORK has returned the beaches to their former state
MIJAS’ beaches, which were all affected by recent storms at the beginning of the month, have been returned to their former state following intense work by municipal staff.
Services coordinator Daniel Gomez Teruel reported after a visit to inspect the beaches, that work should be finished by this week as maintenance staff and employment scheme workers have been on the beaches since November 2 focusing on getting the back in top condition in record time.
Up to 80 job scheme workers, 57 on morning shifts and 23 on afternoon shifts, have been carrying out general cleaning tasks and removing debris while municipal maintenance staff repaired showers, lifeguard posts and wooden walkways.
The council, Gomez reported, has spent €20,000 renting machinery to ease the work.
