TALENTED LADIES: Cornelia Lenzin with soprano Aurea Marston.
A BIG voice and some nimble fingers brought the house down on February 9 in Almuñecar’s Casa de la Cultura when the soprano Aurea Marston was joined on stage by the pianist Cornelia Lenzin.
The two women, originally from Basel in Switzerland, put on a tremendous show that paid tribute to a cornucopia of European composers and artists, including Heinrich Heine, Clara Schumann, and Franz Liszt.
The audience applauded heartily throughout the night, and the two talented ladies received a standing ovation when they finished the show with a piece by the Czech Antonin Dvorak. Of course this enthusiasm obliged them to respond with an encore, which in this case was a traditional tune from their home town.
The concert’s success ensures that there will be certainly be many more in the future. In fact, on February 15, a cello-piano performance will grace the Almuñecar stage.
