BELLVER CASTLE: Thousands of residents celebrated Angel Sunday on April 3.
THE annual ‘Diumenge de l’Angel’ (Angel Sunday) celebrations took place at Bellver Castle on April 3.
This traditional celebration is held every year on the Sunday following Easter.
This year, thousands of residents made the annual pilgrimage to Bellver Castle for a day of fun-filled activities which began at 11am and finished around 6pm.
The highlight of the event was the ‘stroll of the Angel’ which took place at 1pm in the courtyard. The Angel was accompanied by giants, big heads, a dragon and music. The event also included expositions, workshops, folk dancing, shows, a chess competition and various children’s activities.
The Neighbourhood Associations Federation of Palma along with the Palma Town Hall were the organisers of the event which this year received a municipal subsidy of more than €12,000 representing an increase of 20 per cent over last year.
