WHEREAS in the past anything more than a surreptitious grope in the back row of the cinema would have got one into more than a little trouble, cinemas where the audience actively take part in interactive orgies with the characters on screen could well be a thing of the future.
Researchers in Spain are currently working on technology which will see ‘sex cinemas’ fitted out with vibrating seats and virtual reality equipment to allow them to literally join in with the on-screen fun.
The research was outlined at the Love and Sex with Robots conference in London, where Cristina Portales from the University of Valencia said: “Imagine a device where you could really kiss Leonardo DiCaprio, it would be as addictive as porn!” the Daily Star reported.
Rather than an individual pastime, the sessions would be a group activity, the researcher said, which would use surround sound, 3D glasses, vibrating seats and tablet devices to allow viewers to see, smell, feel and touch.
The chance of a kiss from Leo, though, seems unlikely as those portrayed on screen would have to give their permission.
