Spanish Royal’s state visit to UK postponed for the second time

THE state visit by the King and Queen of Spain to the United Kingdom has been cancelled and moved to July.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain have agreed that, in light of the General Election, the planned State Visit to the United Kingdom from June 6 to 8 by King Felipe and Queen Letizia should be postponed. The visit will now take place from July 12 to 14.”

This is the second time the state visit by the new Spanish King has been cancelled, the first time being due to Spain’s political uncertainty following an inconclusive general election.
