A FOUR-YEAR-OLD British boy has died after falling into a pool on a farm near Orgiva in Andalucia – while his father ploughed the land.
The tragic accident happened in the Los Cigarrones area of the town in the province of Granada.
The father of the children jumped into the water to try and save him before rushing the boy to the health centre in the town but nothing could be done to save the life of the child.
A 112 emergency call had alerted the health professionals, local police, Guardia Civil and Civil Protection services and a 061 emergency health response team were in attendance.
The mayor of Orgiva, María Ángeles Blanco, offered her ‘heartfelt condolences’ to the family and went on to praise the resuscitation efforts of the emergency services.
The boy’s body has now been transferred to Granada so an autopsy can determine the cause of death.
