Schoolboy motorcycle racer, 14, dies following track fall in south of Spain

A FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD motorbike racer has died after an accident at a race circuit in Andalucia in the south of Spain yesterday (Sunday).

Marcos Beltran Garrido, who raced for the CD Cardoso Racing, died after another motorcycle passed over him following a fall at the Circuito de Jerez Angel Nieto during the Supersport 300 Championship of Andalucia.

The race was immediately stopped while medics attended the young rider on the track before an ambulance rushed him to the General Hospital of Jerez. He lost his life shortly afterwards.

The tragic news was confirmed by the FAM – Federacion Andaluza Motociclismo – at around 6 pm in a statement that concluded: “From the FAM, all the staff of the Circuito de Jerez Angel Nieto and the CIV, our most sincere condolences to all his relatives, team and friends. RIP.”
