DEVASTATED: Anti flooding work has damaged natural habitats. Credit: GOB
ENVIRONMENTAL groups have denounced the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Fisheries to the European Commission for “the destruction of natural habitats” in the torrent of na Borges, Mallorca. GOB and Terraferida have made a written complaint saying that council policies have led to “the devastation and destruction of natural habitats along more than 15 kilometres of protected area.” They say that anti-flooding work after heavy rains in October 2018 provided an excuse to do work without a proper environmental impact study in a special environmental protection zone. This includes the last 15 kilometres of the na Borges water way, which was not affected by the flooding.
