LOCAL sources say that the fire that broke out in the El Higueron area of Benalmadena, Malaga at around 8.40pm this evening has been brought under control.
INFOCA and the 112 emergency services are currently on the scene, which is still officially classed as ‘active’.
Aircraft, fire fighting vehicles and around 35 personnel were sent to tackle the blaze. But as night fell the aircraft had to withdraw.
Now a local resident whose home overlooks the scene has posted on social media that the flames appear to be extinguished.
It is expected that firefighters will remain at the scene for some hours yet to dampen down and guard against the flames flaring up again.
The 112 emergency phone number took more than 200 calls alerting them to the blaze.
In mid June a fire in the same area caused traffic disruption as smoke billowed across the AP7 motorway
