THE UK has been hit by major power failures, according to news reports.
Power suppliers said areas of London, the South East, Midlands and South West are without electricity. There are also reports of problems in the North East.
“We’re aware of a power cut affecting a large area of London and South East”, UK Power Networks posted on Twitter early Friday evening.
“We believe this is due to a failure to National Grid’s network, which is affecting our customers”, the Tweet continued.
Western Power said they were experiencing a “major incident.”
The power cut has reportedly impacted on rail services, airports, London Underground and traffic lights.
