Make friends and just help elderly neighbours who may be lonely

SUPPORT: Enjoy lunch and help raise funds Credit: Age concern

THERE is often nothing worse than being alone in a foreign country especially if you have recently lost a loved one and don’t speak the language.

Age Concern España has been active in helping British elderly in Spain since 1994 and one of its most recently created branches Age Concern Marbella-San Pedro is doing all that it can to bring support to the elderly in the area.

Like all charities it needs two important things to allow it to not only continue but to expand and these are volunteers and funds.

It will be hosting a series of fundraisers during the rest of the year and its next event will be a lunch at Links Bar and Kitchen in Nueva Andalucia starting at 2pm on Thursday September 12.

Guests can enjoy a three course meal consisting of Cream of Vegetable Soup or Pate with toast, Steak and Ale Pie, Chicken Caesar Salad or Pumpkin, Pepper and Spinach Curry (or with Chicken), followed by Apple Crumble with Ice Cream or Ice Cream Sundae all for just €25.

There will be a raffle with all proceeds going to Age Concern and to make your booking  for this very worthwhile event call Jason on 650 160 189 or Carol 671 617 747 but please note that as spaces are limited, a non-refundable deposit will be required.

Although final plans are not yet complete, there will also be a black tie event later in the year which will feature the Marbella Big Band and other guest performers.
