UK News: Heathrow third runway delay

THE Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has rejected a request from Heathrow Airport to increase its budget for the third runway (even before planning permission has been obtained) from £650 million (€750 million) to £2.4 billion (€2.76 billion).

Although the timing was no doubt coincidental, it should be remembered that until earlier this year, Prime Minister Boris Johnson opposed the extension.

Whilst a Heathrow spokesperson has said that this will delay construction, the CAA says that it wants to protect passengers against higher charges in case planning permission is rejected.
