UEFA EURO 2020 will being held across the continent for the first time in the competition’s 60-year history, with 12 host cities in all.

The opening game kicks off in Olimpico in Rome with Italy v Turkey on June 12, and the final will be held July 12 in Wembley Stadium (London).

The Spanish coach, Luis Enrique Martínez, has acknowledged that his team is “favourite” to win the next Euro Cup, and admits to looking forward to the year 2020 having had a “tragic” 2019 due to the death of his daughter.

Enrique admits that he can’t say he’s “more excited than ever,” but he is “excited” and knowing that his team is a hot favourite to bring home the desire cup gives him extra drive to his already innate enthusiasm for everything he does.

Euro Weekly News confirms that Spanish fans were thrilled when the group stage draw, which took place in Bucharest on Saturday November 30, put the Spanish team favourite.

Spain plays in Group E against Sweden and Poland and an unknown opponent from the previous qualifiers.

Enrique admits that he likes Spain to be considered as one of the favourites, even though in the last two major tournaments the Spanish team didn’t fare very well and were eliminated early on. However this time he hopes to confirm, with results, that Spain continues to be one of the best football teams in Europe and the world.
