JAVEA town hall prepared for the latest spell of stormy weather by building up a dyke along the Arenal beach. The improvised and temporary embankment has often been erected in recent years to protect this part of the Javea coastline and its seafront businesses on. With warnings that waves could reach up to eight metres, the harbour breakwater and the Marina Española Promenade were closed to traffic and pedestrians as well as roads that border the beach in the Primer Montañar and other areas. Motorists were also warned not to park in any of these zones. Shops, bars and restaurants were also advised to remove tables, chairs and awnings from their terraces and board up their largest windows.
