THE police identified 31 underage drinkers during raids in various districts in the capital over the weekend, two of which had escaped from Government shelters. Officers launched their operation in a bid to crackdown on bars and leisure areas that had a high proportion of minors consuming alcohol after numbers complaints were filed from residents about underage drinking and drug abuse in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Separate raids were carried out in Son Gotleu, Camp Redó, Passeig Marítim, Polígon de Son Castelló and Avenida Joan Miró where 27 were charged with alleged drug abuse and 2 for carrying dangerous weapons. Their parents were subsequently notified about the pressing matter. Bar owners who had the youngsters on their premises were also punished, being sighted for violating national and local legislation due to the fact that they sold alcoholic beverages to minors under the age of 18.
