Man Promises Girlfriend Spa Weekend, Takes Her on Tour of Spar Shops Instead

A man has fooled his girlfriend into thinking he was taking her on a spa weekend, when in reality he took her on a tour of all the Spar shops in Birmingham. 

Crafty David Burrows told girlfriend, Sue Pakey, she could expect a romantic getaway for Valentine’s Day this year. Maybe even a spa weekend?

Sue was of the understanding that the couple would be taking a trip to a spa weekend together. The pair stopped at a Spar convenience store, where Sue assumed that they would be collecting some snacks as they traveled to their weekend away.

However,  her suspicion and confusion aroused when the pair stopped for a second time – again at a Spar convenience store.

The reality of the day soon dawned on Sue – boyfriend David was taking her on a tour of all the Spar shops in Birmingham.

The pair continued their journey for two hours, visiting a total of nine stores.

Sue said: “He was like ‘can you pack a bag? I’m taking you on a spa break’, so I was like ‘OK, then’.”

She then added: “It dawned on me when we got to the second SPAR. I was like ‘why are we stopping again?'”

David, 37, admitted: “This is your Spar tour.”
