ONLINE shopping giant Amazon has announced plans to open a new logistics centre just outside Madrid.
The centre will create more than 500 permanent jobs over the next three years. It is the second logistics warehouse Amazon has developed in Spain, the first being in Dos Hermanas in Sevilla.
Amazon is one of the world’s largest employers, with hundreds of thousands of workers scattered around the globe.
The Spanish economy has been hit particularly hard by the pandemic and so the announcement from Amazon is very welcome at the current time.
Amazon’s latest logistics centre in Spain will be 30km from Madrid and 27km from Madrid-Barajas airport.
The 500 new staff members will join 7,000 others in Spain, also working for Amazon on permanent contracts.
